Project Wishbone & Project Dog Bone = Free My Kids/Dogs Cookies

On Bainbridge Island, we’re fortunate to have two local organizations that provide wonderful help and service to human and pets –  Helpline House and PAWS of Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap.

A small way we’re able to help these organizations is to encourage generosity in others.  We can do that through baking.  From now until Thanksgiving, My Kids’ Cookies is sweetening the incentive to support these organizations.  Anyone that brings in canned food donations for people or pets will get a FREE cookie for them or their dog.  And we’ll drop all the donations off to the organizations in time for Thanksgiving dinner.

Wishing everyone a bountiful Thanksgiving!

Pets are are so fortunate to have a great organization like PAWS of Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap. In this part of Puget Sound, they provide the love needed to lots of dogs and cats still waiting to be adopted into loving homes.  While these pets are waiting for the purr-fect home, they still need lots of doggie kibble and cat food to keep them strong and healthy.

My Kids’ Cookies wants to help these furry friends.  Drop off your pet food donations at our cookie shop during the month of March and we’ll give you a free (people) cookie and a free dog cookie for your four legged family member.  It’s our way of sweetening the incentive to continue your support of PAWS of Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap.
Woof Woof, Meow!
(means “Thanks for helping out”)

If you have a dog in your life, then this list is important to you and your canine companion.  Thanks to Real Simple magazine for compiling the info.

Things you should NOT give to your dog:

chocolate – it stimulates the heart and nervous system

grapes or raisins – damages the kidneys

garlic or onions – damages red blood cells causing anemia

xylitol (found in sugarless gum) – causes an increase in insulin which lowers blood sugar levels

alcohol – depresses the nervous system (and who wants to give a dog a hangover)

raw yeast or bread dough – the fermentation of yeast causes alcohol poisoning; also forms gas in the digestive track

macadamia nuts – causes muscle and nervous system problems

avocados – they contain persin which damages the heart muscle

So, as much as we all may love to baby our puppies, stick to dog food to keep them healthy.
